Three Tips for Choosing Staging Artwork

Staging a home for sale? Choice of artwork is critical. Remember these three tips:

1. On the Subject of...
Avoid words and anything with eyes. Minimalism and abstract art are often great choices. Nature scenes and landscapes can impart a serene feeling to a space. A canvas with a bright pop of color works well, as long as it coordinates with any other bright pops of color in the room.

2. Size Matters
Use large paintings for large walls. Small paintings work best in bathrooms or hallways. Art above a sofa should be approximately the same width as the sofa. A tryptic also works well above a sofa, as long as the total width matches the sofa's width.

3. True Colors
Cool colors like blues and greens are calming and will help buyers feel at ease in the space. Neutral colors like white, cream and beige are also excellent choices. Black and white together add elegance. Browns and greens can evoke comfort, warmth, and nature.
